The Story of Hastings in 66 Objects

Hastings may be most famous for the battle of 1066, but a lot has happened here in the 950 years since. This new exhibition presents a snapshot of the town’s most significant people and events through 66 objects, many suggested and voted on by the local community.

From national emergency to local celebrations, kings to smugglers, local industries to scientific breakthroughs and famous artists to Punch & Judy – all the items on show played a part in creating the unique and quirky town that you see today.

This new permanent display is open now.

Special events: join storyteller Kevin Graal for a funny and thought-provoking exploration of the exhibition. August 16, 18, 23 and 25 at 11am and 2pm each day. Suitable for age 7+.
