La saison britannique / Résonances

A response to the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings and the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death curated by Benoît Warzée, director of Espace 36 and Christine Gist, artist/curator & director of Tempo Arts.

Espace 36, Saint-Omer presents a series of exhibitions featuring artists based in the South East of England and works by English artists from the French regional and national collections - Frac Nord-Pas de Calais and FNAC Paris.

Résonances is a collaboration between the arts association Espace 36, Saint-Omer and Tempo Arts, Hastings. Espace 36 is dedicated to supporting artists' practice through residencies, exhibitions and workshops that are linked to an active programme of events and mediation for the public. Tempo Arts specialises in contemporary visual arts, digital media, sound, spoken word and music through a programme in non-gallery spaces which aims to offer access to the arts for local communities in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea. Both organisations focus on projects which reach inter-generational audiences and participants.

Featuring the work of nine artists based in the South East, the partners will present the exhibitions across seven venues in and around Saint-Omer from September through December 2016. Working with local associations, public and private partners, public collections, Ville de Saint-Omer, Office du Tourisme and Communauté d’Agglomeration de Saint-Omer the partners will present a dynamic and accessible contemporary visual arts programme.
