Perhaps the figurehead of Hastings' resurgence, the Pier is a great source of pride for residents.
After a tragic fire in 2010, a community-based movement ensured that it was rebuilt. The Victorian structure was altered and modified for twenty-first-century usage, and it is therefore architecturally unique.
The pier re-opened in May 2016, with a gig by Madness. It is now radiant with Hastings' uniqueness, shown by the range of events and activities available. Circuses, Happy Mondays and a laser-sound show (ROOT 1066's official opening event) will all be housed by the Pier.
The Pier cannot be missed, as part of a seafront stroll, or as a tourist hotspot.
