Inspired by the 950th
anniversary of the
Battle of Hastings

Burtons' St Leonards

The original St Leonards was designed by James Burton, between 1827 and 1837. Further buildings were added by his son in the 1850's and 60's. The Burtons' St Leonards Society provide guided walks (and much more) that explore the town's origins.

The buildings are redolent of the Victorian age, and the tour through Burtons' St Leonards begins at the iconic Royal Victoria Hotel. This is a tour through history, with the beautiful architecture speaking for itself.
