Be part of the ROOT 1066 International Arts Festival!

We are looking for volunteers to get involved with a variety of festival events this autumn, supporting the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. We need people to steward, interact with visitors and ask questions about their experience of the festival.

There are a range of events - from being a part of the live forging happening on the Stade Open Space from Blacksmiths on the Beach, to Chris Levine’s incredible light and sound show on Hastings Pier.

We’re offering all volunteers who’ve signed up by the beginning of July a training brunch at The Stade Hall on Saturday 9 July to meet the team of volunteers and show you how to capture people’s feedback on your smartphone during the events you attend. We’ll also give all volunteers a ROOT 1066 limited edition discount card worth £10 to use in shops and cafes for the rest of the year, and you’ll get access to some exclusive ticketed events!

Volunteers requirements:

Available during September and October 2016 for several events (and possibly some Stade Saturdays during the summer)

You must be over 17

Own a smartphone for capturing data via our app

Like being a part of the action and meeting new people

Able to get to locations in the Hastings areas under your own steam (we can pay some travel expenses)

Be willing to get stuck in to a variety of tasks

An interest in the arts is desirable.

You can find out more about the festival on www.1066contemporary.com

If you would like to take part and can offer your time on Sat 9 July – as well as during events at various locations during September and October 2016, please email culture@hastings.gov.uk  by Friday 1 July with the following information:
