Battle Festival in search for singers. Once in a lifetime opportunity!

Battle Festival in search for singers. Once in a lifetime opportunity!

Battle Festival and Glyndebourne are looking for singers to perform in the new contemporary opera by internationally acclaimed composer Howard Moody. This new commission is one of the lead events of the Root 1066 international festival to commemorate the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings.

A launch event in Battle on Saturday 23 January at 10am at the Memorial Halls will give anyone who wants to sing the opportunity to find out more about this opportunity. Howard Moody and Simon Iorio from Glyndebourne will be there to give a taster of what’s involved and answer questions. This chance is open to all, whether or not you can read music. it doesn't matter if you have never performed before as the piece will be written for all abilities, experienced and novice.

Why not start the new year by trying something different. Maybe you’ve watched The Choir and been desperate to join in – this is your chance.

This new Battle Festival community Choir will engage 300-400 singers of all ages drawn from the local community and 1066 schools and they will perform alongside soloists from Glyndebourne. The world premiere of the new opera will be performed at the De la Warr Pavilion, Bexhill on Saturday 1st October 2016.
